Nothing earth shattering here. I spent several trips on an elevator today and just for the sake of my sanity, would someone please start teaching people that you let people get OFF the elevator first, and then you can get ON.
Why is it so hard to understand this?

There's a general overall philosophy that more and more Americans seem to be following in their day to day lives:
Me First.
The idea of waiting, even when absolutely no ground can be gained by rushing, is a dying idea.
I agree with you Skudge but it is a stupid selfishness, ya know? Sometimes it is selfishness that is so short-circuited by stupidity, or laziness maybe, that people end screwing themselves.
I have a similar story that I bet you've both experienced...
I spend a lot of time at our mall since by two buddies work there at the Apple store. And darn near *every time* I go there there will be a long line forming at the Apple Store or at the mall entrance.
Why, you ask?
Because even though there are *two* doors at the Apple Store and probably *ten* at the entrance to the mall, people will STAND IN LINE AS MUCH AS TEN DEEP so that they don't have to expend the energy to open another door!
Yes, indeed. So that they can reach out and grab the already-open door, instead of simply walking up to an opening a different door, they will *line up*.
At the Apple Store its even worse because its so busy. Instead of opening up the other door, and its *right there* man, everyone will try to cram themselves into the one opening whether they are going in or leaving.
Now WTF is that about?!
People are lazy, and by-and-large, they are also sheep. We tend to want to follow the herd.
On the other hand, I've been in such situations, and you reach for that second door only to find it locked. Then you look like you were trying to cut in front of the lemmings, and you have to go back to the slow lane into the store (or wherever).
